Abstract :
[en] Jérémie Ferrer-Bartomeu, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS), presents a lecture titled "Political Writings and Administrative Society in France during the Wars of Religion (circa 1560 - circa 1620)," along with Olivier Poncet, Professor of History of Institutions, Diplomacy, and Modern Archives at the School.
How does an institution gain traction during times of civil war, political, and religious conflict? How does political and diplomatic information circulate in the force field of Early Modern Europe's international relations? What new administrative techniques do sovereigns employ to confront radical and violent challenges to their legitimacy? Lastly, what role does administration play in politically ordering a resistant and oppositional reality?
