Les techniques picturales du IIe style en Italie centrale : questionnements et méthodologies appliqués aux enduits peints de la Domus aux Bucranes à Ostie

The study of the wall paintings of the Domus dei Bucrani (1st century B.C.), in Ostia Antica, conducted by the University of Liège since 2010, includes an archaeometrical approach, which is now developed as part of a doctoral thesis. The research, which combines analyses with macro- and microscopical observations, as well as a historical and architectural contextualisation, is an opportunity to point out interrogations concerning light and colours in relation to the painting techniques.
