Abstract :
[en] This article focuses on the development of a master’s degree program in conservation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The term “endogenous” in the title implies that the emphasis is on the construction of a specifically Congolese curriculum. The goal is to empower the Congolese to take charge of their heritage and also of contemporary art. The project aims to identify pitfalls, shortcomings, and needs (including for techniques, materials, and products) as a first step in the implementation of a curriculum that will prepare future conservators to meet challenges and to develop their expertise. Empowerment through conservation training is a factor in achieving sustainability.
