Abstract :
[en] The Angström system is a Linux distribution (distro) for embedded devices (PDAs, Beagleboards, Mobile Phones, etc.). The Angström community was started by a group of people who worked on the OpenEmbedded, OpenZaurus and OpenSimpad projects. They aim to create a stable, user friendly linux distribution for embedded devices.
Using Linux on an embedded device is an interesting thing. Users of such devices are often unsatisfied by the bad quality of the built-in OS’es and softwares on their embedded devices. Or a Linux aficionados is always unhappy to use something else than an UNIX-based system.
The advantage of UNIX-based systems is well-known, and does not enter in the scope of this booklet. For these reasons, there are now Linux-based distros for embedded devices.
