Abstract :
[en] In this paper, we will first have a look at the biography of Buchanan that mixes a long political carrier inside and outside the Republican party, a life as an influential writer, and an incredible activist literary production on the Internet . This will let us consider, for the first time, if Buchanan is a populist, if he is a rightist, and if he belongs to the far-right . In a second step, we will have a comprehensive look at Buchanan’s vision of America. What mean its history, values and principles, political life, and fate for him? This will let us depict what Buchanan had in mind when in 2001 he started to talk (with increasing frequency since then) of a war on “America we grew up in”… Third, we will see that if Buchanan dares to bring together very different elements to justify causalities and influences inside its specific vision of history, he does so because according to him, the cultural revolution (the war on “America we grew up in”) is rooted in cultural Marxism, a Gramsci’s style cultural revolution which must precede the political revolution. At the end, in a last section as a conclusion, we will focus on the very specific meaning of democracy inside Buchanan’s work. This will allow us to see to what extent in Buchanan’s mind, ethnicity, homogeneity and loyalty (devotion) are pillars for a just and democratic Republic in America, and to what extent the Constitution was not made for foreigners (Goldstein, 2018: 490).
