Abstract :
[en] This paper aims to analyze if the BRICS New Development Bank (BDB) can be understood as a shift in the international governance and financial structure as a
genuine tool of development assistance from rising powers or as a tool to forseak strategic national interests. This paper focuses on China; Is the establishment of the BRICS New Development Bank a tool for China to propose an alternative to the Western hegemony? The discussion is based on Robert Cox’s neo-gramscian theory to analyze the BDB’s material capabilities, institutions and ideas.
