[en] This article describes the Angora goat and its fleece, and the production of Angora goats in France. A breeders' association was founded in France in 1978, and it imported animals from Texas, USA. In 1983, there were 70 purebred Angoras and 300 crossbreds in France. The crossbreds were obtained by mating Angora [male][male] to dairy [female][female]. Fifth-generation crossbreds (96.87% Angora) produced fleeces similar to purebred animals. Annual production of mohair in France averages 4 kg per animal. The breeding season in France is July-Jan.; the duration of the oestrous cycle is 19 days, and that of pregnancy 150 days.
