[en] Career construction theory (Savickas, 2002) assumes that subjective lack of career control over one's vocational future in an increasingly changing society can be addressed by diverse interventions. Helping self-regulation strategies is part of these interventions. This paper proposes to introduce in vocational counselling a self-regulation strategy that has been proved to enhance the level of academic performance (Broonen, 2006), namely the conscious production of implementation intentions (Gollwitzer, 1993) in goal-directed behaviour. Career control should be facilitated by stating these specific intentions that specify what, when, and how to seek relevant vocational information.
