ORBi inspires others!

This Thursday, May 10, the authorities of the University of Liège and the University of Luxemburg will sign a cooperation accord concerning Open Access.

This joint programme aims at establishing an Open Access strategy and policy within the University of Luxemburg which leans on the ULg’s expertise, as well as setting up an ORBi institutional repository ORBilu based on the model developed at Liège.

The outcome of work carried out for several months by the management committees of the respective libraries, this transnational event is important not only for the two partnership teams faced with a genuine challenge which needs overcoming, but also and fundamentally as a contribution to the development of the Open Access movement.

The signing ceremony will be preceded by a conference on Open Access and the advantages it offers researchers, with talks given by the following speakers:

  • Dr. Alma Swan - Director of European Advocacy (SPARC Europe)
  • Prof. Dr. Bernard Rentier - Rector, University of Liège
  • Mr. Paul Thirion – Director of the Library Network, University of Liège
  • Prof. Dr. Rolf Tarrach - President, University of Luxembourg
